Toast Our Town 2010 Brings Us Into Grant Range!

While the success of our recent Toast Our Town event belongs to all of us, we would like to extend special thanks to the ladies who worked so hard to pull it all together. First to Jan, who really just did it all - from managing the program (a giant job!), to packaging and setting up, to guiding and directing us, and stepping up the evening of the event to welcome our guests. A fabulous facilitator and supervisor, Jan made sure the entire evening ran smoothly. To Val, Deb, Leah, Susan, Esa and Jan for sitting outside in sub-degree temperatures to sell the raffle tickets. To Val and Deb for spending a large part of the evening doing their "Vanna White" impressions with the balloon chance. To Sue Vining for doing such a remarkable job on the flyers, posters and yard signs - we received so many compliments on the professionalism of the graphics this year. To Ana, Noreen and Trish for the wonderful donations and helping to work at the event. To Sally and Deb for getting the flyers out and around town and EVERYWHERE. To Sally and Jan for a great packaging job. To Noreen, Julie, Barbara and Leah for going the extra mile and taking so much time and energy to sell tickets and get the word out to the community. To Stephanie, Julie, Donna, Sally, Betty, Sue V, Leah, Val, Deb, Jan, Noreen, Ana, Esa, Cathy and Emily for working at the event and/or setting up, spreading the word and helping to make it all come together. This truly was a team effort! We appreciate each one of you for taking your time and energy out of already busy lives to make sure this year’s Toast Our Town was a success!

We would again like to extend a special thank you to George Koutouzis and his wonderful staff at Georgina's Restaurant for sharing with us their great food and providing a fun atmosphere for our event. We would like to thank Don and Rita Simons of Bolton Self Storage located at the corner of Stony Road and Rte 6 in Bolton, for meeting our organization’s storage needs. We would also like to thank Mark Gardella of Awesome Audio from Manchester, for providing the music for the event, and State Representative Pam Sawyer for officiating the evening and bringing us together as a community with yet another wonderful toast.

The net total for the evening is just over $9,000, which is a wonderful addition to our club’s Herrick Park Playground Rejuvenation fund. Toast Our Town did what we had hoped and has brought our dollar amount for the project into grant application range. We are extremely thankful for the support of the club in moving the BWC’s playground project forward. We have said it before, but it bears repeating, it truly takes every member of our club to accomplish our successes! Whether you were a member of the Toast committee, attended the party, got out the word out about the event, or simply supported the club in other ways this year, it takes all of us to keep the club moving ahead. As a group, we can support our community in many ways: a monetary donation for larger projects, time for community service events, or efforts to aide MACC or community families in need, the difference we make within our community has a large outreaching effect. “As a group we can do so much more than alone. And we know we are lucky to make Bolton our home.” If you’re not familiar with this quotation from our poem, it can be found on the “about us” page of our website. Please check it out!

Moving our club’s projects forward effectively and in a timely manner serves all of us - it shows we are effective as an organization, which makes it easier to move other endeavors and future projects forward. We sincerely hope you will join us for the 2010-2011 year to help the BWC serve our community and help make our playground dream a reality. A solid membership list will add strength to our momentum as we move on to the next step in the playground project process and begin applying for grants.

We’re looking forward to another successful BWC year and hope you will all be there to enjoy it with us!
