Committees:
Auction
Committee
auction@boltonwomensclub.org
The
auction committee is made up of a large group of members who organize
our biggest fundraiser. Committee members rent the hall, organize
food, generate donations, package the donations for a beautiful presentation,
and make sure the night progresses smoothly. There is a lot of coordination
involved and it is a lot of fun. All the work produces a fantastic
evening which raises money for charity.
Bolton Family Fun Day
This BWC committee
rents a cotton candy machine, sets up a candy making volunteer schedule,
and coordinates with the Bolton town committee handling the entire day.
Budget
Committee
The BWC Budget
Committee is a new aspect of the club and will be a yearly committee comprised
of the treasurer, assistant treasurer, and at least two additional members.
The committee will convene during the late winter to review the club's
income and expenditures for the previous year, and work to formulate a
budget for the upcoming year. A draft of the budget will be submitted
to the Executive Board for feedback and approval, and a final budget will
be presented to the general membership during the April meeting.
Conservation
The Conservation
Committee is responsible for planting and caring for flowers on the Bolton
Town Green in commemoration of Memorial Day. The flowers that are used
are red geraniums, blue salvia and white vinca.
Heritage
Day
The BWC supports the
Historical Society to provide a 'colonial breakfast' during what is becoming
an annual tradition in Bolton. This committee organizes the breadfast
Heritage Day is in the fall.
Halloween
halloween@boltonwomensclub.org
The Halloween
Committee organizes our annual Halloween Party held prior to Halloween
at the Bolton High School. They organize games, purchase candy and
prizes and coordinate volunteers. It's a lot of fun and the evening
is always a huge success.
Home
Life homelife@boltonwomensclub.org
Reaching-out to those
in need within our community is coordinated by the Home Life committee.
Members volunteer to donate food and other necessary items to needy families.
This includes sponsoring a family for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and helping
at other times of the year as well. Additionally this committee
coordinates with MACC to determine needed supplies.
Hospitality
hospitality@boltonwomensclub.org
This committee
coordinates the refreshments at each of our meetings. The chairperson
usually asks one or two members to bring a snack for the club to enjoy.
Liaisons
With so many different
groups in town, we're thrilled to have members act as liaisons to keep
us posted on other activities going on throughout town. We currently
have liaisons for:
PTA
Bolton Historical Society
Bolton Scholarship Fund
Bolton Education Foundation
Bolton Community News
Bolton Lion's Club (looking for a Liaison)
Senior
Luncheonseniorluncheon@boltonwomensclub.org
The Senior Luncheon
Committee arranges a fabulous meal for the seniors in town. They coordinate
the main dishes, side dishes and desserts made by volunteer members as
well as coordinate the volunteers needed to serve and entertain. Those
volunteering for the luncheon enjoy the time as much as our local seniors
do.
Sunshine
Committee sunshine@boltonwomensclub.org
When a member has a
baby, an operation, or a difficult time, members offer to cook dinners
for them, pick up some shopping, or watch their children for a few hours
to help out. The Sunshine Committee organizes these efforts.
Tag
Sale
The Tag Sale
Committee organizes a town wide tag sale on the town green. They
coordinate the weekend with town officials, rent tables to members/non-members
and are on hand to help the day run smoothly.
Wadsworth
Atheneum
Flower Festival:
Fine Arts and Flowers: 2005 was the first year the Bolton Women's Club
participated in this unique four day show of art interpretation through
blossoms and greenery. The club receives a photograph of a painting or
sculpture in the museum that we must interpret through a floral arrangement.
We brainstorm ideas, select flora and make a test arrangement before finalizing
our masterpiece. A Saturday morning “field trip” to the show
lets us view the artwork other entrants were assigned and critique their
interpretation. No experience is necessary to join this fun committee,
just a willingness to explore your creative side.
Festival of
Trees:
The Bolton Women's Club donates an item for the Wadsworth's Festival of
Trees. The Chairperson decides what they'd like to create then asks
members to help bring their idea to life. It's a fun event and members
often learn a new craft or skill in the process.
